ACENTISS Engineering Day : "Quality - Made in Germany?"
Discussion forum for current developments in Aerospace and Renewable Energy
For the third time ACENTISS invited to the Engineering Day, a forum to discuss newest developments and technologies in aerospace and renewable energy on September 22. The motto of this year's meeting "Quality - Made in Germany?", was deliberately question marked to provoke controversial discussions.
For the field of simulation and virtual product development, Dr. Florian Jurecka from FE-DESIGN was invited to critically debate the possibilities of numerical optimization and their implications. In his presentation "How to ensure robust design for optimised structures" he explained the fundamental problem of optimized structures: structural optimization consequently removes any kind of redundancies thus making the design less robust. Throught specific consideration of robustness criteria this issue could be effectively handled - even if the simulation complexity may increase significantly.
