GLview Express Writer is a file writer for export of models and results to VTF formatted files. It is delivered as an object library with C++ header files, suitable for integration with FEM based solvers and codes. The VTF file format is is supported by all GLview products.
Geometry models, result selections, animation settings, and various output options (e.g. draw modes wire frame, points, surfaces) are exported to a VTF file. Subsequently, these data can be visualized in GLview Express and GLview 3D Plug-In.

The Express Writer enables developers of commercial and in-house CAE codes to utilize the free presentation tools GLview Express and GLview 3D Plug-in. By using these products, CAE data can easily be shared across different HW and SW platforms without the need of installing licensed software.

FE-DESIGN's use of the GLview Express Writer
- From our software TOSCA various results of the optimization can be exported as VTF file using the GLview Express Writer. These files allow on one side fast and platform-independent visualization of the optimization results and on the other side offer the possibility for sharing and discussion of the results with customers, colleagues and partners.

- A special version of the GLview Express Viewer is distributed with TOSCA as TOSCA Structure.view visualization client.

- The GLview 3D Plug-in is intensively used by our customers and us for visualization of optimization results in interactive PowerPoint presentations.

Combining the Express Writer and the GLview Express Viewers, CAE software developers can offer their customers a low-cost, but yet powerful visualization solution.

- Data sharing and distribution:
The GLview Express technology can be offered as an add-on feature to existing post-processors, used for data sharing, model and results distribution and reviewing.

- GLview Express as 'Acrobat Reader®': 
With VTF format offer the engineering world's equivalent to the Acrobat solution. From the original model, particular sets, parts, materials, and simulation steps/cases can be extracted and stored in one protected VTF file (which usually is just a fraction of the size of the original results database).

- Company standard for presentation and visualization of CAE data:
Use GLview Express as the standardized company-wide presentation and visualization solution. Anyone can load a VTF Express file and study the simulation results, present highlights and conclusions - without the need of installing proprietary post-processors. 

- Internal project archive:
Let your customers build an internal project archive. By storing a copy of all simulations in your CAE code on the VTF format, it is easy to build a version control system, or access former versions of the simulations without transferring large amounts of data. 

- Simulation showroom:
Publish previous simulation jobs on the company intranet - or externally via the Internet - by visualizing VTF files in the GLview 3D Plug-in.

Deliverables
The Express Writer is delivered as a fully documented object library and C++ header files for Windows and most UNIX platforms. The object-oriented architecture is written in ANSI C++, providing high-level portability. The C++ header files come as obfuscated source code. Interface layers for access from FORTRAN and C are also available.

About the VTF file format
The VTF file format preserves all CAE model characteristics such as node and element numbering, element topology, and the original numerical results values. The VTF file can be distributed to colleagues, sub suppliers, partners, and management for review with the GLview Express Viewers, or alternatively read by the post-processors GLview Pro or GLview Inova for further interpretation and analysis.
